Who is the Virgin Mary for Carmel?
Blessed Mary Ever Virgin is the glory of Carmel. Carmelites from the beginning have chosen her to be their Patroness, Sister, and Mother. Being most pure, unlike any other creature, she tenderly draws her children to an ever deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, her Son.
The Carmelites of Mary Ever Virgin honor her as Lady of the Place in typical medieval fashion: they wear her scapular, sing her praises at the end of each hour of the Liturgy, chant her Litany every Saturday, and celebrate her feast days with great solemnity.
