What are the austerities of the life? What is the work of the life?

The chief austerities of the life consist in the usual monastic asceticism as practiced in Ancient Carmel: the midnight rising for the office of Matins; an atmosphere of silence and solitude; a meatless diet; and strict observance of the enclosure.

In a spirit of service and sacrifice the Sisters carry out their daily work: cooking, cleaning, sewing, laundry, monastery correspondence, and sacristy work. They support themselves by making Mass linens: corporals, purificators, finger towels, and amices. They are presently learning to make chalice palls as well.
